PGWP Eligibility & Requirements
To qualify for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), applicants must meet the following requirements:
Valid Status Requirement: Must have valid temporary status in Canada or apply from outside Canada.
Study Duration: Must have completed a minimum of 8 months of full-time study at a DLI in Canada.
Application Deadline: Must apply for a PGWP within 180 days of completing their program.
Expired Study Permit: If the study permit has expired, applicants may apply for visitor status before applying for a PGWP.
Immediate Work Eligibility: If a PGWP application is submitted before a study permit expires, applicants can start working full-time while awaiting approval.
Status Reinstatement: If an applicant’s permit expires, they must reinstate their student status first before applying for a PGWP.
